Organize visitor attributes

On the Digital Channels page, you can edit and group together the visitor attributes that are passed into Touchpoint for each channel. Organizing these data points makes it easier and more efficient to create targeted distributions later.

Prerequisites:
Important: For the developer version of these instructions, click here.
  • To view the visitor attributes, click Digital Channels > Digital Channels, click the channel listing, and then click Visitor Attributes.
  • Create a folder.
    1. Click Create Folder.
    2. Type a folder name, and press Enter.
  • Edit the folder name.
    1. Click the options menu beside a folder name and select Edit folder name.
    2. Type a new name, and press Enter.
  • Delete a folder.
Deleting a folder does not delete the attributes in it. Instead, the attributes become uncategorized once again.
    1. Click the options menu beside a folder and select Delete folder.
    2. Click Delete folder to confirm.
  • Add uncategorized attributes to a folder.
One attribute can be added to multiple folders.
    1. Click the options menu beside an uncategorized attribute.
    2. Select Add to folder and then select the folder.
  • Edit the attribute's display name.
    1. Click the options menu beside an attribute and select Edit display name.
    2. Type a new name and press Enter.
  • Edit the attribute's description.
    1. Click the options menu beside an attribute and select Edit description.
    2. Type a new description and press Enter.
  • Disable the attribute.
    1. Click the options menu beside an attribute and select Disable attribute.
    2. Click Disable attribute to confirm.
      Result:

The visitor attribute moves from the Available attributes section to the Disabled attributes section. The visitor attribute is no longer available for selection in new distributions.

Disabling an attribute does not affect live activities that are currently using that attribute. For example, if "country" is used in an open distribution, disabling "country" does not change the set of attribute conditions visitors must meet in order to see the activity, nor does it prevent the activity from collecting data.

  • Enable a disabled attribute.
    1. Click the options menu beside a disabled attribute and select Enable Attribute.
    2. Click Enable attribute to confirm.
Result: The visitor attribute moves from the Disabled attributes section to the Available attributes section. The attribute is available for selection in new distributions.
